2016 Festival Wrap-Up

Appalachian Outdoor Film Festival

Film makers, Chad Heddleston and Jeremy Fox, on the red carpet.

Well, the 2016 (first ever) Appalachian Outdoor Film festival has wrapped, and we could not have wished for a better turn out and a better event. We sold out within minutes of opening the box office, announced 15 standing-room-only tickets, and then sold those out, too. We showed 12 submitted films, 4 sponsor films, talked up NRAC and raffled a lot of big prizes—all in 2 hours.

Thank you, sponsors: Merrell Shoes, Osprey Packs, Outdoor Research, ACE Adventure Resort, Adventures on the Gorge, Trango Extraordinary Climbing Gear, Stonewear designs and Blue Ridge Outdoors.

Thank you to all the volunteers who made the AOFF a success.

And thank you to everybody who turned out to watch movies. To those who couldn’t get tickets before we sold out, we’re so sorry. But you should know that you’re the reason we’re considering an expansion to multiple days for 2017.

Without further ado, here’s an encore presentation of the Tommy Penick’s Judges’ Choice winning film, El Arroyo.
